ASSET MODELLING ANALYSIS GROUP

ABOUT OUR TEAM
Our life on the planet depends on the harmony between various infrastructure systems such as transport networks. Most of these infrastructure systems, such as road network, the ground and buried utilities, are interconnected. However, current asset management practices ignore such an interdependency and deal with assets individually. This approach sometimes unable us to identify the real causes of defects associated with an asset linked to its misfunction or inappropriateness. Having said that, when considering the interactions of this system of systems there are various technical, social, environmental, economy, and political challenges to tackle.
To tackle these issues, we utilise cutting edge technologies, including digitisation of the assets using Machine learning, sensing system, e.g., buried sensors, while considering the user and its needs to:
-
Collect and assess an asset’s condition,
-
Predict its future condition, and to
-
Propose appropriate maintenance strategies, while considering various socio-economic factors.
Our solutions are normally informed by a coupled physics- and data-driven approach, while conducting field and laboratory experiments are normally the core of our investigations.
We work closely with the industry to ensure our solutions are practical and well disseminated.
Diversity and inclusion are the core of our research culture, and we are proud to be a team with various backgrounds.
